John Schamante graduated in 1971 from Eastern Michigan University with a Communications degree. A special feature of his education was an emphasis on persuasion – a strength John has successfully harnessed his entire professional life.
Beginning his career in sales, John first utilized his persuasive skills as a business forms salesman for Burroughs Corporation. From there he moved to Neuland Development Company in Naperville, Illinois where he was in charge of advertising, marketing and off site sales. This led to a new position with the A.L. Garber Company, a manufacturer of paperboard packaging supplies. John established a new Illinois territory for this Ohio based company and increased total factory sales by 10% during his first year.
After A.L. Garber was acquired by Clevepac Corporation, John became General Manager of its successor company, the Sandusky Folding Box Company, and Vice President of its folding carton division.
Deciding to utilize his considerable business skills as an entrepreneur, John then started Acme Packaging Inc. After selling the company and merging it with Techna Label Co., John continued his enthusiasm for working with startups with his founding of Total Concept Packaging, a paperboard packaging sales organization, which he built up to a four million dollar a year organization. After changing the company’s name to TCP Inc., the company moved into manufacturing carded packaging with an inline manufacturing process which they perfected. John holds three industrial design patents which he developed while building TCP.
Together, John has been involved in mentoring new businesses in a variety of industries including sales, construction, communication and foreclosure information services, as well as sitting on a number of Non-Profit Boards during his career.
In 2008 John began JAS investments, which serves as a vessel for businesses: JAS Business Coaching a Franchise of FocalPoint Coaching is John's current primary business interest for which he feels he has trained his entire business career, in addition John and his daughter Robyn started Great Escape Stables, an equestrian training facility in South Lyon, Michigan. John is also an experienced sailor and owns interests in several recreational yachting businesses.
John currently resides with his family in Beverly Hills, Michigan.
